2. The company responsible for constructing the nuclear power plant
- Investor: SEA OSA Investment Sole Co., Ltd
Survey, Design, and Construction: A company with experience in constructing nuclear power plants in the People's Republic of China or the Russian Federation. - Technology Application: To be selected by a company with proven experience in nuclear power plant construction in China or Russia.
- Investment Model: To be implemented in accordance with the laws related to concession agreements or other relevant legal frameworks of the Lao PDR, strictly enforced
3. Operation System of a Nuclear power plant
- Electricity is generated through a process called fission, which occurs when a neutron collides with uranium-235 atoms, which serve as the fuel. This causes the uranium atom to split into two new elements: Krypton-92 (Kr-92) and Barium-141 (Ba-141). This reaction releases heat, radiation, and additional neutrons.
- The released neutrons can then go on to collide with other uranium-235 atoms, creating a chain reaction.
- The heat generated from the fission reaction is used to boil water into steam. This steam is then used to drive a turbine, which is connected to a generator that produces electricity.
